A strong man who opposed King Noah and almost killed him after chasing Noah up a tower. He is also instrumental in delivering King Limhi's people from bondage to the Lamanites. Gideon becomes a great teacher in the church and withstands the evil Nehor with the words of God. By this time, however, he is an old man and when Nehor attacks him with a sword he is slain.
